This or That Tuesday 15/07

Tuesday, 15th July, 2003

Since I’m awake after coding the layout at such an ungodly hour:

This or That Tuesday

1. Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck? Daffy ‘cos he’s insane.
2. Tom or Jerry? Aww, poor Tom.
3. Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck? Donald.
4. Rocky & Bullwinkle or Boris & Natasha? Never seen either one.
5. Road Runner or Wile E. Coyote? Road Runner. Meep, meep.
6. Sylvester or Tweety? Tweety is so cute.
7. Popeye or Bluto? Popeye.
8. South Park or The Simpsons? The Simpsons.
9. Jetsons or Flintstones? Flintstones.
10. And finally, the eternal question asked by all good Scooby-Doo fans: Velma or Daphne? Daphne, I think, although I haven’t seen Scooby for *years*.

And since I didn’t do last week’s:

1. Strawberries or blueberries? Strawberries are my fave even though I’m allergic to them.
2. “Legally Blonde 2″ or “Terminator 3″? Legally Blonde 2, because I liked the first one and T3 is so pointless.
3. Hamburgers or hot dogs? Burgers. Actually *cheese* burgers.
4. Boating or hiking? Hiking.
5. Suntan lotion or sunblock? Sun block.
6. “Big Brother” or “The Amazing Race”? The Amazing Race. I’ve never seen Big Brother.
7. Beach Boys or Jimmy Buffett? Beach Boys
8. Grow your own produce or buy from supermarket/greengrocer/farm stand? You can’t beat the taste of homegrown veg. And it’s fun going out into the garden to pick dinner.
9. Drive with car windows/top down, or with air-conditioning on? Windows down and music blaring on a beautiful sunny day.
10. Go away for vacation, or stay at home? Away. Far, far away ;)

Tuesday, 1st July, 2003

New month, new layout, featuring indiegrrl singer/songwriter Rachael Sage. I took down what content there was because I’ve changed the layout several times without recoding the pages so they’re a total mess. They’ll be up soon, although haven’t I said that before? Left the cliques and fanlistings up though. Now the problem with fanlistings is that when you go on a mad code-adding spree you have to sit there and fill out all those join forms…

[edit] I almost forgot to do This or That Tuesday again  .
1. Lemonade or Ice Cold Beer? Beer, ‘cos I don’t like lemonade. I actually became more of a beer drinker in Canada. Some Brit chick I am.
2. Swimming pool or beach? Beach. Though not a scary polluted English beach.
3. Long weekends here & there, or a 2-week vacation? I’ll take anything at the moment ;)
4. Destination: Acapulco or Hawaii? I’d love to go to Hawaii.
5. Destination: Mountains or Beach? Er… both.
6. Hotel/motel/B&B or camping? Camping is so not my thing. Spiders and all that…
7. Carefully planned vacation, or play it by ear? I don’t think I’m capable of making careful plans. Like despite having tickets for a skating competition in some far flung land months and months in advance, I usually end up finding somewhere to stay when I get there.
8. Sneakers or sandals? Ew, sandals. Sorry, I really don’t like feet. Isn’t that weird? So yeah, sneakers.
9. Air-conditioning or fans? Air conditioning. Although not like at uni where the computer rooms resemble Siberia even when it’s 26C outside.
10. Concerts in the park or baseball games? Concerts, although I’m really getting into baseball, especially after finding live ESPN feeds on Channel 5 in the middle of the night. I was up until like 4am watching the Mets play the Yankees the other night :)

Friday Five 27/06

Friday, 27th June, 2003

Friday Five

1. How are you planning to spend the summer [winter]?
Working. I need a job sooo badly.

2. What was your first summer job?
My first and only proper job was writing business news for a website. It wasn’t really a summer job though – I worked all through my second year of uni. Shame the site closed, I miss it.

3. If you could go anywhere this summer [winter], where would you go?
Anywhere. Everywhere. After travelling so much last year I’m getting really itchy to go abroad again. If I could I’d go back to Toronto and visit the gang.

4. What was your worst vacation ever?
I suppose the time me, M and Bert stayed in a caravan up near Great Yarmouth. As usual the kid got his own way on everything and I was bored to tears.

5. What was your best vacation ever?
Being an exchange student was like a year-long holiday, but I guess the highlights were taking the train from Toronto to Vancouver (and back again) and going to the European Figure Skating Championships in Lausanne.

Before I ever became an obsessed figure skating fan I was a slightly less obsessed tennis fan. So of course, now exams are over, I’m firmly planted in front of the TV worshipping the BBC for its interactive Wimbledon coverage. You can choose between 5 different streams at the same time – digital TV rocks! So does Rusedski, even though he lost in straight sets today. :( At least Todd Martin won his match, and Agassi’s on tomorrow. I used to watch all the grand slams and then some when Steffi Graf was playing, then I kind of lost interest for a while, especially while I was in Canada. But I’m sure it must be some form of treason in this country not to watch Wimbledon . Oh yeah, I didn’t get round to doing this yesterday:

This or That Tuesday

1. Surf sites at random, or have a set list of regular reads? Both.
2. Do you visit mostly blogs, or news or other sites? Blogs, fan sites, message boards, fanfic archives, etc, etc…I spend way too much time online. :)
3. Do you go online every day, or just a couple of days a week? Every day, or should I say most of it.
4. Do you allow comments on your blog, or not? I allow comments, not that anyone (except Kavy) uses them, *hint* *hint*
5. Do you shop online at all, or at regular stores? I used to shop online, back in the distant past when I wasn’t totally broke, lol. I’m going through eBay withdrawal at the moment.
6. Have you ever done online bill-paying/banking, or not? Yep, I set up my bank and credit card accounts so I could access them when I was travelling, and now I use them all the time.
7. Which news site do you prefer… MSNBC.com or CNN.com? Or do you prefer some other one? CNN, although for news I usually go to The Guardian site.
8. Live chat rooms, or message boards? Message boards.
9. Instant messaging or e-mail? E-mail. I used to use IM quite a lot, but I haven’t for a while.
10. Yes or no: have you ever met, or at least talked on the phone with, another blogger? If not, would you want to? Why or why not? No I haven’t, although I’ve met quite a few skating fans from message boards. Hanging out at skating events is great fun.

It’s very hard to type when you’re being attacked by a big ugly cranefly. Ugh.

Now that it’s remains are spread across the floor, I can get on with what I was doing  . I came across some rare live Rachael Sage mp3s which I’ve been listening to today – “Child” is great and it’s not on any of her albums, so I played around with some code and added it above. (The mp3’s quite big so I hope it doesn’t slow things down too much.) I’m always plugging Rachael – I love all of her stuff. Actually I’m not a happy bunny right now because I was shifting files between my laptop, desktop and blank CDs and accidentally deleted a few of the songs. The person on WinMX they came from had better get back online soon :P

I’ve been meaning to do this song titles survey/meme for a while; I saw it on Liz’s blog I think. Using Rachael songs:
1. Are you male or female? 93 Maidens
2. Describe yourself: Cyanide and Cinnamon
3. How do some people feel about you? Child
4. Describe your girlfriend/boyfriend/interest: My Precious Love (okay I’m cheating ‘cos I don’t have one :D )
5. How do you feel about yourself: Unbeauty
6. Where would you rather be? Colorized World
7. Describe what you want to be: Big Star
8. Describe how you live: Before it Comes
9. Describe how you love: Obsessive Love Song
10. Share a few words of wisdom: Begin to Stop
